During the US Civil War, Union POWs escape in a balloon and end up stranded on a South Pacific island, inhabited by giant plants and animals. In 1865, during the siege of Richmond, Virginia, the union soldiers POW Captain Harding, Neb and Herbert escape in a balloon during a storm with two confederate prisoners, Sergeant Pencroft and the journalist Spilett. The uncontrollable wind takes the balloon to a mysterious island in the South Pacific in the area of New Zealand. Captain Harding self-proclaims the leader of the group and they look for food; sooner they discover that they are stranded in an island. Further, they are attacked by a giant crab that becomes their first meal. Along the days, they build a shelter and finds that the island is inhabited by giant animals. A couple of days later, they find two castaways on the beach, the aristocratic Lady Mary Fairchild and her sexy niece Elena. Later they find a trunk with weapons and instruments like sextant and shelter with a journal of a man left alone in the island by pirates. When the pirate vessel arrives in the island, they are helped by Captain Nemo of the Nautilus, a submarine that had supposedly sunk in the coast of Mexico eight years ago. 音乐这种东西真的很能够拉扯人的情绪，每次看到这样的电影版音乐剧就总想去现场看看，毕竟隔着屏幕看就已经足够震撼。911事件是沉重的悲伤的，而故事就设定在刚发生了这个事件之后的一个加拿大小镇上，但剧作没有让观众完全沉浸在悲痛中，在这之中时不时加点小幽默或人与人的情感链接，真让我体验了一次悲喜交加。整个剧作的歌曲和编排都很完美，通过灯光的颜色来切换场景，演员们也都是一人分饰n角（n≥2），以服装动作神态语气来切换角色，太强大了，我还是到差不多最后面才发现原来中东人阿里和凯文0是同一个人，水平之高毋庸置疑。剧作特别聚焦到这样一个小镇上，将恐怖事件与小镇人的热情作对比，人性的善与恶两个极端冲突，摆在观众面前，批判恶的同时不忘宣扬美。人们抱团取暖，由此促成的一世友谊，异地爱情实在令人感动。
音乐同善意一样感人，相当鼓舞人心的一部作品。（必须得感谢官摄，对于种种原因而鲜有甚至没有机会去剧院的人们来说，这真的是极好的奉送。）故事源于9·11事件及其影响的其中一面，虽然远离第一恐袭现场，但在这座小镇上，在这部戏剧中，所涉及话题却格外的充裕和细致，除了展现人类之间的互助互爱，还对信任理解、信仰责任等一系列关联概念做了具体的探究与表达。这就非常值得去思考，即便没有这场人为灾难，世界是不是本就该变得更美好，人与人之间应当更为宽容与和谐，人性的真善美不该在带着血泪的惨剧发生后才觉醒。
岛民们都好善良可爱。比天灾可怕的是人祸，愿世界和平。
非常动感的歌舞片，各种障碍与解决障碍。在舞台上演绎，真的很精彩。
无论发生什么，我们都应该以一种平等、公正、无畏的态度去面对这个世界。

看完现场之后补标，为原卡女机长加一星。 / 近景少了很多舞台细节，但演员的表演更有感染力。片头和片尾都有一点感动。

好看的 是非常美式的音乐剧 美国人就很适合拍这种题材 机长姐姐的歌好棒 那个埃及大厨好逗 通过圣经交流的剧情一看就是来源于真实 非常感人
二十年前从电视新闻的报道或身边同学瞎聊而有的经历，十年前的懵懂发芽，五年前才开始接触相关纪录片，二十年后新的故事一样。角度不错，随时都可以投屏再看，再看看。 in Mar-2022
这种片子看得才过瘾，内容充实拍摄效果棒，养眼又治愈
专门挑了这么一个时间重温，知道泪点低，但没想到从第一首歌就开始大哭，一直哭到最后。除了剧本身，还想起很多事，想起在伦敦的现场，想起2020年没能成行的中巡。现在笔袋上还挂着西区散场后从工作人员那得到的“dats a moose”的徽章，什么时候能再回去看现场。
故事素材不用说。关键是舞台形式，给人启发。
