The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 两个主角从头到尾没起到什么关键作用，倒是让张伯伦给大家上了一堂政治的艺术。

几个年轻人尽力在历史大潮中掀起一点小水花，片子的历史观与我们熟知的传统观点有些区别。

爬梯开了百年了，还真是一点没变。竟然有点感动着。
三星半。历史题材，在叙事上聚焦于小人物，编剧十分注重兼顾两者，导致整个剧本非常平淡，但完成度不错，也设置了一些紧张的转折和给予观众思考空间的抒情部分以保证影片的节奏感。选角很优秀，甚至对于影片的立体化和丰富感起到关键作用，有老戏骨如铁叔，也有具有一定基础和名气的青年演员如荞麦、Liv，还有一些新面孔，搭配起来毫不突兀。两位男主的化学反应很强烈，也令本片更生动了几分。
电影其实质量还不错，如果没有结尾那几行“注解”，也许就不会有洗白张伯伦的争议了。
小将们奋力一搏，老家伙们还木知木觉。关于张伯伦当时掌握的信息面，还可以去参考看石黑一雄写的《长日将尽》。

关于小人物在大时代下的命运想起了兰心大剧院，片子的真主角其实还是内维尔张伯伦这个争议人物。
