The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 谈不上什么恐怖片，就是稍微有些重口味的意识流文艺片，志异民俗类的。虽说是个女巫的成长，但没有太过刻意强调女性身份，这样一来突出的就是些人性的共通之处了。影像音乐都可以，台词太文艺了，容易催眠
本文讲的是家庭温情故事，设置了一个非常特殊的场景，就是年轻人患上了阿尔兹海默症。家庭的力量是我们抵御人世间苦痛的最后防线，剧情设置非常的集中，删去了各种可能影响主题发展的线索，把影片的目光始终汪视在父女情深这一主题。
与其说是女巫的生命形态，不如说是女人的生命形态。巴尔干，艺术永恒的源泉。

3.5 视听还不错，其实不是恐怖片，讲的是生命体验，前半段有些无聊...演员们都很好！
然而我们终将孤单。但那对你很容易。
导演纯纯的马力克信徒，拍了一部恐怖版《生命之树》。最绝的是连配乐都直接用一样的，不过这片的故事发生地和探索人生感受生命的主题倒是适合这个风格。故事的内核的确非常孤独和伤感，这种混搭风真的是十分新奇的体验。
只谈声音，想吐槽的地方太多了…既然女主是痴呆病人，前半段就没必要因为有个孩子就全部童真化，应该着重在情节的铺垫吧，却搞得跟个温馨家庭片似的。然后最重要的几个转折上，配乐完全没起到情感叠加/递进的效果，好像只是为了转场而削弱注意力。以至于女主被检查出痴呆症的时候，我耳朵整个都是懵的。噢在此之前，女主开车出了点意外那里，眩晕感（好像）就只持续了两三秒，这里视与听的冲击应该是个特别出彩的地方，就这么敷衍过去了། – _ – །剩下还有很多的就不想说了，总之就是这部电影几乎没有什么声音意识，质感也很垃。

徐玄振绝对的影后级演技，这演绎不拿奖是说不过去的。但是故事还是停留在二十年前的韩式老套路，没什么新意和深度。爸爸和女儿的部分台词很戳人。

独白有种在看日本电影的感觉。不同方式去体验生命。
更像一部和自己的对话，寻找自己生命的真相，不是其他任何人告诉你的，而是你真正感动的价值所在，与内心消极抗争
该影片讲述了一个患有“阿茨海默症”的律师逐渐失去记忆，与自己的父亲共同生活，随着病情一天天的恶化，在父亲的照顾下才能勉强生存。徐玄振将秀珍一角演绎的淋漓尽致，完美的诠释了母亲对女儿深沉的爱，展现了精湛的感情演技。影片前半部分秀珍与女儿的相处画面非常的温馨，后半段秀珍得知自己的病情后担心会忘记女儿，崩溃不已，秀珍深感绝望却又无能为力，与前面的温馨画面形成了鲜明的对比，其次在影片最后定格在女儿轻抚秀珍的头，这一画面真的很治愈。
（话说我发现，好像所有演“痴呆症”的演员都能够贡献神演技？！）
