The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. 身怀绝症之人要如何延续自己的身体机能、记忆以及情感，要如何学会告别，这部电影给出了一份答案。在冷感科幻的氛围里，平静温柔地讲述了男主做出最终决定的这一过程。想起了黑镜中的某一集，只是那是站在逝去亲人那一方的角度来看待问题的，但感情同样动人。
披着后现代的幌子，讲了一个其实很老套的一体两面自我和解的故事，精致的摄影勾不起人任何的欲望

片中从建筑到汽车以至虚拟显示屏的UI界面全部走了极简设计路线，很漂亮。
对于什么都拥有的人来说，这是个梦幻结局了，不管是自己还是自己所爱的人以及其他负有责任的人和事。对于大洋彼岸的很多人来说，能得到一个安静优美的、衣食无忧的临终之所已经是莫大奢望。
