The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 本篇美术不错，女性角色的设定与“放置”显得可有可无。开头一上来，冈田准一扮演的土方竟然长的比近藤勇还老，有点点出戏。

题材新颖，角色很吸引人，适合一个人的时候看，值得观看！
无论从摄影调度还是内在表达来讲，都是很中国式的。水墨一般的静谧山水，直面残酷的信仰铸成，都有一种很强的张力。
行云流般的长镜头让人沉浸感十足，明明是残酷的战争，却被赋予了诗情画意般的意境，战争片的另一种打开方式。

刚看完，导演和主创们想表达的东西多也不多，就看怎么看吧
没想到战争影片也可以用这样的呈现方式来表达，酷似水墨画的那种画面质感特别而独具美感，非常迷人的一部电影。
作为一部电影叙事过于碎片化且流水账了，不过土方冲田的选角不错
对不熟悉相关史实的观影者来说故事过于流水账。但土方岁三这位叙事者兼主角真是太鲜明突出了，冈田准一从颜值到演技都非常hold住。与阿雪的感情戏，还有与冲田的友谊都有看点。但山田凉介作为冲田总司来说颜可以，但气场是真不行。
一個人都沒記住
想讲的太多，节奏太快，叙事太乱太流水账了，对不了解这段历史的人确实不太友好。池田屋和卡门意外的配。
对不熟悉相关史实的观影者来说故事过于流水账。但土方岁三这位叙事者兼主角真是太鲜明突出了，冈田准一从颜值到演技都非常hold住。与阿雪的感情戏，还有与冲田的友谊都有看点。但山田凉介作为冲田总司来说颜可以，但气场是真不行。
那个时代的红军战士，不是身披战甲无所不能的大英雄，而是一个个会冲动会沮丧的普通年轻人，即便在绝境中，也保住自己崇高的信仰，就是这些犹如山洞中的微亮，黑暗里的点光，黑白色调中一抹色彩。

电影应该是多元的，战争片也不应当仅仅聚焦于宏大。就这一点，这片就值得给个好评。
冈田准一应该是我最喜欢的日本男演员无误
