The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 《在异国》之后最有趣的洪常秀。依然是遍地可寻的自我指涉，关于生产创作、人际遭逢、情感生活，以及少不了的对敏后的赞美与示爱，被他剪碎重组为一天的奇遇邂逅和一段戏中戏。坦诚的是自然与动人，精巧的是轻盈与流畅，过曝的黑白画面像摊开的素描本，描绘着生活的种种可能，而彩色的真实又那么甜美。年岁渐长的洪导面对时间的解答：如果艺术攫取自生活的吉光片羽，那生活本身的每时每刻都理应是被宝贝的magic hour。“天色尚早，但很快就暗了，我们去散步吧。”
拍摄不规避展示疫情对于生活细节的改变，这又是一次生活与艺术之间的相互对照。

洪常秀的自我表述与公开示爱，个人不太喜欢。

两人玩得欢，世上独一份。这么直白，影迷也会消化不良。
美满的爱情给了洪尚秀第二次生命。宠溺。没有了辛辣味道，是有甜甜的、清新味道的蒸馏水。向世界花式秀恩爱。这样不惮地宣告，是在挑衅婚约，是真爱。
包含多层含义的题目：助人是help，呼救也是help；疫情中的自救是help，直面公共医疗体系的混乱也是help。
洪的作品越来越玄，但总是让人能一口气看完，还觉得时间蛮快的，总体三星。金敏喜额外补上一颗。（被最后的彩色甜到了）
