The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. 前半段的抗争成色，在类型片范畴里可圈可点，节奏把控也凌厉。但是，从司法部长女儿一番所谓同理心表达、以及黑白混血女的“真情流露”，这种老套的政zhi正确和道德正确植入，让整个片子立即坠入烂尾深渊。

自由的代价高昂，这部电影在冲突中走向共识，底层人民的握手言和却无法让上层满意，因为他们要的就是冲突来巩固他们的统治。内奸的戏份对于剧情来说有些许多余，但依照事实改编，可能也无可奈何。
多番博弈人心易，细察失言毙叛徒。
就因为目的换成了释放曼德拉，所有人开始支持他了除了上校，就。。。很突兀
披着警匪片的政治讽刺片，虽然有些bug，但整体还不错
黑人反抗力量在策划暴力活动中被发现，情急之下逃进银行，并劫持了一群人质，后面就落入了俗套。虽想融入种族冲突的大背景，但不太成功。

改编并不出彩，剧本对于事件现场和南非社会两个尺度下种族冲突的平行刻画都很肤浅，但看得出导演和编剧在质感和节奏上，有意努力模仿同经典的题材/同类型电影，这方面《血腥星期天》是标杆。作为一部中低成本时代背景电影，视觉还是很良心的，尤其是服化道。值得一提的是，前南非军队特战军人创设的G73 Tactical Advisors战术/安保机构为该片提供了警务指挥与战术顾问、演员枪械训练、警察特技群演、警用服装/装具、警用载具（包括直升机）。
